Texans, get ready to party!

April 20 marks the start of one of the state’s most popular annual festivals: Fiesta San Antonio.

The celebration runs several weeks in locations around the city and includes live entertainment, carnivals, parades, cultural exhibits, shopping, a masquerade party, regional cuisine fairs, a Native American pow wow, children’s activities, sporting events and so much more.

The celebration has certainly grown over the years: Fiesta San Antonio started in 1891 as a one-parade event as a way to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. Today, it’s one of the nation’s premier festivals and does an incredible job of celebrating San Antonio’s rich and diverse cultures. Fiesta also greatly benefits the city, bringing in more than $280 million—funding that provides key services to San Antonio citizens throughout the year.

This year, Fiesta San Antonio will kick off with Fiesta® Fiesta at Hemisfair, where spectators can enjoy fireworks launched from the top of The Tower of the Americas. So mark your calendars for April 20, when Fiesta kicks off at Fiesta at Hemisfair. Enjoy fireworks, live music, greet the Fiesta Royalty and other special guests, break cacsarónes with your friends and family, and yell “Viva Fiesta!” Then, get ready for a lot more fun over the coming weeks.
